Between April 29 and May 5, 2025, Artemis Women’s Power MTÜ took part in the international youth mobility project “Rebirth: Climate Crisis and Migration” in Madrid/Alcobendas, Spain, hosted by KUFF Refugees and Minorities Solidarity Association. The project brought together 23 youth workers from seven countries, all committed to exploring the links between wars, environmental change, and human migration.
Climate change is reshaping the world, forcing communities to move, losing homes and livelihoods to rising sea levels, degraded land, and natural disasters. Unfortunately, the legal framework for climate refugees remains insufficient. This project aimed to fill that gap by educating youth workers about the environmental consequences of war and the urgent need to protect vulnerable populations.
Our team from Estonia actively participated in creative and educational activities designed to raise awareness and spark dialogue:
Visual Storytelling: We created digital collages showing cities before and after wars, highlighting the environmental and social impact.
Workshops & Discussions: Youth workers shared knowledge on how conflicts affect water resources, biodiversity, and local ecosystems.
Historical Scenarios: Imagining a world without wars helped participants reflect on the potential positive impact of peace on the environment.
Art for Awareness: Recycled materials were transformed into public artworks, combining creativity and sustainability.
Collaborative Learning: Interactive puzzle activities brought local communities together with participants, encouraging hands-on environmental action.
Through these experiences, Artemis Women’s Power MTÜ youth workers:
Enhanced their skills in non-formal education and youth engagement,
Strengthened their understanding of climate-induced migration,
Built international connections to exchange ideas and best practices,
Inspired young people in Estonia to take part in environmental and social initiatives.
Participation in Rebirth: Climate Crisis and Migration has empowered Artemis Women’s Power MTÜ to continue promoting climate awareness, environmental responsibility, and global citizenship. The insights gained from this project will help shape future programs and initiatives in Estonia, ensuring that youth remain active participants in building a sustainable and peaceful world.
Through collaboration, creativity, and education, Artemis Women’s Power MTÜ demonstrates the important role youth organizations play in addressing global challenges and inspiring meaningful change.
