From Empathy to Action: Humanity is No Borders Project Concludes with Lasting Impact

The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project "Humanity is No Borders" (Project No: 2023-2-TR01-KA152-YOU-000167854), coordinated by Artemis Women's Power MTÜ, successfully concluded after its final three days of policy discussions, awareness-raising activities, dissemination initiatives, and project evaluation. Bringing together young participants from Türkiye, Romania, Georgia, France, Estonia, and Czechia, the project empowered young people to develop practical solutions for the challenges faced by refugee women while promoting human rights, gender equality, and intercultural dialogue.

During the fourth day, participants exchanged good practices from their respective countries regarding the protection of refugee women's rights and explored different national approaches to gender equality and refugee support. Through the Youth Assembly activities, international teams discussed the legal and social challenges experienced by refugee women and collaboratively developed recommendations aimed at strengthening their protection and inclusion. These sessions encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and active participation while enabling participants to formulate common proposals based on human rights principles.

The fifth day focused on dissemination and community engagement. Participants finalized the awareness-raising materials they had produced throughout the project, including newspaper articles, posters, photo exhibition content, and other communication tools. These materials were presented to members of the local community through interactive awareness activities designed to encourage empathy toward refugee women while also promoting the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Programme. Participants also visited local stakeholders and institutions, exchanging ideas and learning about existing practices supporting refugees and vulnerable groups.

On the final day, participants completed their Youthpass certificates, reflecting on the knowledge, skills, and competences they had developed throughout the exchange. During the final evaluation sessions, they assessed both their personal learning journey and the overall impact of the project, sharing feedback and discussing future actions inspired by their experience. The programme concluded with a cultural visit to the historical and touristic sites of Mersin, providing participants with one final opportunity to strengthen intercultural understanding and appreciation.

Throughout the project, young people gained a deeper understanding of the social, legal, and humanitarian challenges faced by refugee women while developing stronger competencies in empathy, active citizenship, teamwork, communication, and intercultural cooperation. The dissemination materials and policy recommendations created during the project are expected to extend its impact beyond the participants themselves, reaching wider communities and contributing to greater public awareness.

By bringing together young people from six different countries around shared humanitarian values, Humanity is No Borders successfully fostered international cooperation and encouraged participants to become active advocates for inclusion, equality, and the protection of refugee women's rights.
